Default Engery saving alternator.

I didn't see if mentioned that your battery was discharing, I was told by a service guy at my chevy dealer that the new alternators had voltage sensing circuits to stop charging when the battery reached a certain voltage.

Default Seat Heater = Service Charging System on my car

I noticed that I only have the "service charging system" when I have my seat heater on (it gets a little chilly in the winter driving to work with my top down at 5 am).

Just a data point. No seat heater, no charging system error. I think I'll just turn the heater on. Matter of fact need to make sure it works anyway!

I've also been having the "service charging system" error almost since the day I've owned the car. Dealer has had it 3 separate times now for a total of about 2 1/2 weeks and even had an engineer fly in to check it out. They have never found any problem and have replaced wiring harnesses, alternators, computers. Couple of observations - seems to increase frequency of the error messages as outside temperature increases. Primarily happens only at idle in drive at a stop light although several times I have got it as I'm accellerating away from a stop. If I give it a bit of gas at idle or in park, the problem never shows up. Could this be solved by bumping the idle speed up in the computer a bit?
