guess that explains it.
As an active OnStar subscriber enrolled in OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics, you receive regular email updates on the condition of your vehicle's five key operating systems. See below for specific details on each of these systems, and their respective subsystems. For more general system information.
Antilock Braking System
Diagnostic Status: Complete. There may be an issue requiring action. Push your blue OnStar button and request a GM Goodwrench Remote Diagnostic.
This system is responsible for monitoring and controlling the antilock brakes, which can reduce stopping distance in slick conditions, and the traction control/stability system, which helps the vehicle maintain control in adverse conditions.
Antilock Brake System
The antilock brake system (ABS) monitors the speed of each wheel. When you are stopping, if one of the wheels is about to lock up, the computer can rapidly apply and release the brake to prevent the wheel from skidding. The system constantly monitors each wheel's speed and can adjust braking accordingly. In the event that one of the sensors detects a problem, the computer can turn on the amber ABS light. If it remains on, your vehicle requires service. Your regular brake system will still work, but the ABS feature may be disabled. If the red Brake Warning light is on, there is a problem with your regular brakes. Your vehicle should be inspected right away. If the light remains on, towing is recommended. That information can also be sent to your OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics check to alert you that service is needed.
Traction Control System (if equipped)
The Traction Control System (TCS) monitors the speed of each wheel. If one or more of the wheels indicates a loss of traction, the brake system can be activated and/or engine power can be reduced until traction is regained. If the Traction Active light or message comes on, the system may be operating due to driving conditions. This is normal operation. If the Traction Off or Traction Disabled light or message is on, the selector button may have been pressed to turn the system off. Press the button again to turn the system back on. If the Traction Off/Disabled or Service Traction light or message remains on continuously, your vehicle may require service. That information can also be sent to your OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics check to alert you that service may be needed.
StabiliTrak® System (if equipped)
The StabiliTrak system is an advanced computer controlled system that can help the driver maintain directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions. This is accomplished by using input from vehicle motion sensors and the steering wheel position to selectively apply any one of the vehicle's brakes and, if necessary, reduce engine power. When the system activates, a Stability Active light or message may turn on. This is normal operation. If the system detects a problem, the Stability Disabled or Service Stability light or message will be displayed. If the light or message remains on, even after pressing the Traction/Stability selector button, your vehicle may require service. That information can also be sent to your OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics check to alert you that service may be needed.

I'm not far away from you and we're talking about temps in the high 30s to high 40s. As Phil the Sarge used to say, let's be careful out there.

There was a post some time ago on the forum whereas......... The individual was at the track and lost it in one of the turns and spun out at speed. He and his car were alright just a bit shaken up but the Onstar rep noted that the car had made an unusal movement and inquired if he was alright. Big brother is watching GM does not want to pay for any damage caused by abuse
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
We do still have those funky little black box/recorder thingies either way though.

cold temps. don't help traction none. yep, really gotta watch them corners. it don't take much to overrun the ava. grip when it gets cold.
