Default Door Opening and Window Indexing

I've been having some problems opening the doors from the outside. I have to press and hold. Sometimes the door will open halfway (not enough to disengage the latch) and the window will index down and then back up. Sometimes I have to push the door shut and try again. The passenger door must be opened from the inside most time. Any idea what is going on?

Tonight, after I did get in and start driving I noticed the window did not index back up. I couldn't force it up with the window control. I stopped and opened the door and shut it again. The window went wild! Indexing up, down, up, down, etc. until I opened the door again and closed it. It did not index up until I went a couple of miles down the road. What gives with the indexing?

Hey there Fire69Ice,

Try this.

From inside the car.

1) Turn on accessory mode (yellow light should be on);

2) Lower driver's side window all the way down;

3) Raise window and hold up position for 3 seconds

4) Hold for another 3 seconds;

5) Repeat for the passanger's side window;

6) Turn off accessory switch;

7) Put emergency brake on and car in park if an A4 or reverse if an MN6 transmission;

8) Exit car and watch if driver's side window indexes when you shut the door;

9) Go to passanger side open door anbd shut again....watch if window indexes properly.

I beleive the above reset procedure is covered in the owner's manual..I had to do it recently on my 08 Z06 when I was on a long road trio so I'm familiar with this $hit.

Default C5 Window Index Problem

Does the C5 have a way to re-index the window. I have recently noticed that the windows no longer drop when I turn off the car. I did have battery problems that has been corrected. Any ideas?

Cowabunga, Bernie dude!

Hours before a planned vacation, my driver's door quit indexing to full up position. Your procedure fixed it in 90 seconds. My wife will think I am a genius.

Must have happened when I left the radar detector on for several days, without driving the car. Battery went all the way down - which probably confused the indexing function.
