I would like to upgrade my '05 diff. to a (DTE) '06 case, but just found out it's not a simple swap out. The '05 transmission output shaft must be changed to match the '06 diff. case.
So....has anyone done this before?
If so, what's the approximate cost can I expect to pay for a new '06 output shaft, bearings, gaskets & labor for the '05 transmisson conversion alone? Or, is it even possible? (This is for the additional expense on top of a typical DTE diff. installation).

Not quite correct.
We informed you that the 2005 output shaft *housing* needed to be changed to support the 2006-2008 case in the M6 application, NOT the output shaft itself. Big difference between the two- hence the need for clarification here. We've done these changes to in-house installations many times.

So whats the deal here guys? I would like to know the cost and details of making the change. If my diff ever does go it would be nice to know what you need to plug and play and what the cost is, What about it DTE what does it cost to go from the stock 05 to your upgraded 06?
Cartek, DTE, and RPM Transmissions can all do the 06 rear end conversions for the 05 cars. Only thing is DTE requires you to send them your tranny and differential for them to convert in house. the other two vendors will send you the parts. As far as pricing, well, I think thats better you discuss with each vendor.
