Default '05 vs '06 Corvette Z51

I'm looking to buy another vette soon and I'm considering an '05 or '06. The first year of new generations sometimes come with "bugs" that need to be worked out. I'm curious to know if anyone has heard of, or experienced any of these "bugs" in an '05 vs '06? If not, it financially makes sense for me to purchase an '05. If anyone has any other advice pertaining to this I'd appreciate the info. Thanks.

Get the 2006. It has a better differential that is stronger than the 2005. It also has a better steering wheel.

Ah yes, the steering wheel! I forgot about the Malibu steering wheel on the '05s. lol. What's the story with the diff?

Others posted on my other thread that the '05 had column lock problems? delaminating problems? Also, that it had to be shutdown in reverse?

Hear of those above problems?

Thanks.

The shafts and diff were weaker in the 05s and some 06s from what I've heard/seen. Nasty damage when they go snap.

Get which ever meets your requirements for mileage, options, time and price. Both are great choices and much improved over the C5. I have owned my 05 for 3 years now with minimal issues and quite happy; I actually prefer the 4 spoke wheel.

Happy hunting!

Wow. Am I glad I got an '06. I haven't had any of those problems except the delaminating roof. Granted, I've only put ~8100 miles on it so far since May of 2006, but still. That's one heck of a list.

I did have one mechanical problem, but I suspect I was the cause of that one. I got in a hurry while frustrated in a parking lot, and ended up jamming the shifter button somehow where I couldn't shift it out of N/D (I have the A6). I drove it home okay but had to leave it in accessory mode overnight, which naturally drained the battery.

Oh, and I have a phantom leak in the left front tire. It loses pressure at an average of 1-2 lbs a week. Very wierd. I had it to Goodyear twice and they can't find any leaks.

Many of these issues are also on 2006-2007 cars.
Some cars run clean with no problems, and others are prone to problems.

Many of those issues are also on the '08. My '05 has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Been to the shop one time and that was my fault not the car's. My new Mercedes was in the shop five times in two years.
