I installed a set of Koni FSD shocks this weekend. Love the ride and handling so far (haven't had a chance to push the car much).
My question - the stock (05 C6 Z-51) shocks had rubber covers/boots over the exposed shock rod. The Koni's did not come with boots, and the stock ones don't fit (unless I drilled out the washer). Should I try to get the stock boots to fit or are the exposed Koni rods fine? I guess the stock boots don't really provide much protection, just wondering what others have done.
One more thing, my Koni's are gold and the right part number for a C6, but don't have the FSD label like I saw on a set of used ones for sale. They just say Koni and have the Koni boomerang looking logo after the name.
Thanks - install went well with all the good ideas on the forum (ratchet strap worked great for removal). Jim
I'll have to check the box again, but I didn't see anything in the instructions about reusing the boot, just generic stuff. Do I use the OEM yellow/white bump-stop too? Thanks again - guess I'll be pulling the shocks again. At least the Konis are easier to compress. Jim
