Incredibly easy install (15 minutes), filter cleaning takes 5 minutes to take the filter off, looks better than the vararam (opinion), and there IS a performance gain...moreso if you open the shroud. I picked up .4 and almost 4mph from only tune and K&N
Would like to know the following-
- Performance
- Ease of Install
- Easy Filter Change/Cleaning
I would have no problem in installing any system just trying to find out all I can before I get one.
I do have installed on my car the stainless mesh for front grill.
Thanks
Futile
Do a search on intakes. It would take you hours to read all that is written on Vararam alone. Depends on what you want, performance, fitment, ease of installation. It's all there.
I went with the Callaway Honker...
Why??
I searched the forum, and read most of the posts concerning intakes..
I felt comfortable going with the Honker....
Yes there are others that will give you an extra tenth in the quarter... but that was not a priority for me....
Vararam. But none of the good intakes like Vararam or Calloway are easy to install. Cutting the shroud is PIA. There are a lot of posts on this with good info. PROTECT THE CONDENSER.

Please don't assume that other intakes make more power or result in lower e.t.'s than Honker. We haven't seen this. Actually, some of the most popular systems don't make any more power than stock, some produce less.
The latest testing, with a Honker on new 2008 LS3, was quicker than stock by an average of .268 seconds (3 back to back runs without Honker/3 runs with Honker). Drag radials, otherwise stock, no other changes.
MTI Xcelerator...a Honker clone. I do recommend a pre-cut & riveted shroud which is an available option with the Xcelerator. Saves a lot of time and aggrevation. They have a sale on it now-$229 for intake LS2 ($339 for LS3) and $55 for pre-cut shroud. Includes genuine Green Filter Co. filter.
One disadvantage about the Vararam is if you use a front center license plate/frame which would negate the ram effect of air going into the snorkel right behind it. In that case, you would probably be better off with a non snorkel unit like the Callaway, Xcelerator or Vortex.
After about a year of being on the fence, I finally ordered the Vortex Rammer. Great design, quality construction, easy install and looks great! The performance ain't bad either. Haven't seen a bad review on one yet. Mine is due to arrive tomorrow. I'll do a review once installed.

I have been doing some research but wanted to see what some of the opinions are out there.
