install on-star
I have a 2005 coupe. It did not come with on-star. Can I install on-star ? It looks like it is just in the mirror on the cars that have it. I do have xm radio and a Nav system. Please don't guess, I need to know for sure before I start buying parts.

1) The inside rear view mirror with OnStar controls
2) The OnStar antenna (big black box attached to the passenger side windsheild near the visor)
3) The OnStar ECM (under the carpet in the passenger-side rear storage compartment).
4) Microphone (which you already have as part of the Nav system)
This is just the hardware -- that's the easy part.
The real fly in the ointment is the programming.
OnStar says:
*retrofitting CANNOT be done
*the OnStar hardware is permanently paired to the vehicle's VIN, and
*if your vehicle was not factory-equipped with the system, you are out of luck.
