It's confusing.

The different LS engines came with different part number lifters, the only same usage I know if is LS2 and LS7 came with the same lifter.

Probably has more to due with when the engines were being produced. Like the LS1 and LS6 were built at the same time, I'll bet they use the same part number lifter. LS3 is probably another number.

However, they all can use the same lifter, so dimensionally they must be very similiar.

In the GM Performance Parts catalog they offer 2 lifter part numbers for LS engines, both can be used in any LS engine.

The 12499225 is the exact lifter that came in LS2 and LS7, and it says can be used in any LS engine. I would assume for near stock cams.

Then it provides part # 88958689 as a Racing Lifter kit for any LS Gen III and IV (which is all the LS's) for aggressive camshafts, tested up to 8000 rpms.

So I believe they all can use the same lifters, just some came with different part numbers.

LS 1's and 2's are the same. I ordered a set of gold race for my LS2 and they had a LS1 part#
