On some occassions when I open the door to the car the chime will start to ring,,I only have the one fob and thats in my pocket,,I always leave the car (when shutting it off) the same way,,nothing changes in that respect,,no rear hatch is open to maybe alert me to that fact,,anyone know why this happens? It did it today when I opened the door to back it out of the garage,,and when I started it to put it back in it didn't happen,,like I said its done it a few times since I've gotten the car,,any chance the ignition was turned off and left in accessory mode? I always make sure all the lights go out before I close the garage door including the green light on the start button,,,thanks.
I don't no why it dose that. But it has happen to me before and to some of my friends. The only thing i can think is when you walk up to the car and don't open it , but then you come right back and do is when it happens with me.
If you accidently shut it down using the accessory side of the switch,,shouldn't it shut down on its own after about 10 minutes,,the retained accessory power or whatever its called?

Which tranny does your car have, manual, or automatic? I've not tried it with my automatic, but I've been told you will get the warning ding if you don't leave an automatic in PARK. Could be letting you know when you activate the circuits by opening the door that it wasn't left in the right gear.
EDIT: One suggestion - if you have it turned on, turn off the fob-left-in-the car warning. Some folks here got weird results when they used the passive locking and spent too much time close to the car when it was locking, making the car "think" the owner had left the fob in the car, because it was so close.

The button doesn't have an accessory side and a RAP side. It just has a top and a bottom. If you shut the engine off properly, it goes to RAP. If you hit the bottom of the button again, it goes to accessory mode.

There is no accessory side (see above).

After an oil change I put my car in the acc. mode and forgot to turn it off. It drained my battery and I had to jump it to get it started.
Have the automatic,,don't have the fob left in car warning set to on,,I don't use passive locking,,like I said it does it only occassionally,,I must have read my owners manual wrong as I thought there was an accessory side versus an "off" side.
