Thinking my next mod will be a set of 3.15 gears. I currently have 2.56 in my 08. my question is do you think there is much e.t. to be gained with just the gears and no torque converter? It is big expense to add a converter? And what would be a good stall for a street/strip car? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes there is but the converter will really compliment the gears well (and vice versa).

From a labor stand point it actually isn't that much more costly to swap out the torque converter if you're in there doing the gears anyway. Much of the same parts/pieces have to come out for either one so it is always best to do both at the same time if you have plans at any point later on of ultimately doing both anyway.
The converter itself does add more cost (roughly $750.00 or so) but the gains make it worth it IMO.

There is still a small debate as to just how much stall the 6L80/A6 will take before running into some potential PCM/TCM issues but even if you went with a 3000/3200 stall it could still really help your sixty foot times when using stickier tires.
Converter + install is pretty reasonable. It would definately complement the 3.15's.
Most places charge from 700-799 for the Vig single disks. And added install since they are already pulling your rear I would think as LS1LT1 said would be pretty minimal. Couple hundred at most.
I'll let You know in a few days when My Vette comes back with 3.15 gears{already had}and a 2400 stall from TJ at RPM!{set-up for My Maggie powered car}.
I would think a 3000/3200 stall would be too high for daily street use,,,,track o.k.,,,,but all day driving on the streets,it would be a hassle!
My stall was around $970.00 for a triple dics unit, plus install.
Good luck!!
Oh,,I also have an A6!!

I'm going 3200 and my car is primarily street driven. Any H/C combo is going to move your power up. These cars (yours with the maggie not so much) are pretty sluggish on the bottom end, I think the 3200 is going to wake it up nicely.
