A converter without drag radials isnt going to yield much...you're just going to put them up in smoke if you try and take any advantage of the converter.
I can't launch WOT with the stock converter on street tires...and the launch is where the torque converter reduces all of the ET (for the most part...shift extensions are improved and rotational mass is also reduced)
Have you ever run it at the track? If no then theres almost no chance you'll get 11s when you go to the track...it takes a lot of practice to learn to 60' your car on streets to any successful degree.
And btw...I dont consider a converter a bolton.

that being the case can I get there with 373 on streets with my current mods and no converter??

yes you can launch on stock tires with converter, i ran 12.38 with the last mod of vararam then had Cartek do a 3800 rpm converter and went 12.06 then 12.02 1.7 60fts. thats almost 4/10s faster with stock tires
And btw Sean! the whole f body, ls1, lsx world, consider a converter a bolt/on i dont make the rules i just play by them
A converter still helps with street tires. It is easier to roll into the launch and the extra torque from the shift extension on the 1-2 upshift is significant even for a 3000 stall. The key is too keep the STR low like a stock car if you are going to stay on street tires and not use drag radials.
A high stall car with stock gears almost always beats a stock stall car with gears. I would say "always" but I'm sure someone can 1 example of a guy who can drive that has just gears, and another guy who can't drive and has a stall.

The LS1 fbody world also usually considers lid and catback being stock, lol. I've never considered gears or converter a bolton...but I suppose it could be.
I stand corrected about a converter on stock tires then....I'm impressed you went 1.7s on them with a converter
However, I didnt say you wouldnt see results, I said it wouldnt yield much, and odds are it wouldnt for him because it sounds like he has 0 drag racing experience. One thing these cars DONT need on the bottom is an easier way to spin the tires when you aren't used to launching on them. Something tells me you have a good bit of racing under your belt though to pull 1.7s, lol.

I agree... a stall is the best mod an auto car could do.
