This evening I stopped and used my second mortgage to buy gas. When I went to shut the filler door it wouldn't stay shut. Checking I found that the little pin did not come out. I pressed the gas filler door open switch a few times and I can hear it clicking but the little pin stays shut. Any idea what may be the problem??? Right now my filler door is being held shut with a "Scotch-0-matic", the transparent Corvette Filler Door holder tape by 3M. It works but looks like cr4p.
Bingo! That was holding it. Thanks for your time Stroked. The 3M Scotch-o-matic worked (you know, they come in two flavors, clear and transparent); but, it isn't a mod that looks very good.
Adjust the pull strap in teh cargo area; that'll hold it open! It's in the rear drivers side.
Some cars also have a condition when water gets into the cable at the "pin" and causes corrosion of the return spring. If this occurs, you will eventually need a new release cable assembly.
Last fillup I paid 3.35 / gal. (Conoco) The fillup before that I paid 3.05. (BP) The one before that I paid 2.95. (Chevron). All 91 octane, that's the highest we can get in "Mayberry". I only fill up once ever two weeks. I only drive it on sunny days and it's been raining like pouring %iss out of a boot around here.
V4Vette are you letting them pump it for you? I'm also in NY and lately on average I'm paying tops $3.50 for prem of course, sometimes even a bit lower. I refuse to use Exon/Mobile!
