I am planning on running either BFG KDW 275 35 18 / 295 35 19 or Bridgestone RE050a 275 35 18 / 305 30 19 on 18/9.5 X 19 /11 How do these 2 tires differ from the z51 GY supercar Runflats that my car has now in both handling / comfort. Thanks
The stock run flats have a much harsher ride and do not have good traction at all in my opinion. I still have the run flats on my 05 but as soon as there less than half gone then I will be replacing them with either Bridgestone are Michelins. I have the Bridgestone potenzas reo50 on my 99 vette and they ride very smooth and get great dry traction and decent traction in the rain. I have run the bfg kdw2s and the kds(old style)before and they are a very noisy tire and they do not wear very well at all. I think I got less than 7000 miles out of them. The kds were even worse. The tread design on the kdw2s is kind of unique but I dont think they look good on a vette. They also get very poor wet traction even though tire rack rates them higher than the Bridgestones. The Bridgestones and Michelins are a little more exspensive but I think they are worth it at least as far as mileage and noise levels. Either way Im sure you will like the bridgestones are the bfgs better than the stock runflats.

I've done some research on the tires you mentioned. The stock Goodyear Super Car tires have a treadwear rating of 220. The Bridgestones are at 140 for treadwear rating and if you switch the aspect ratio to 30 vs 35 in the rear you need to recalibrate the speedo.
The BFG's have a treadwear rating of 300. The Bridgestones should give you the best dry traction due to the soft treadwear rating and the
BFG's should live longer. They both should ride better than the run flats.
Good luck with your decision.
305/30/19's are 26.3 in dia, and the 285/35/19's are 26.9 in dia. You're losing over 1/2" tire dia. They look short I've seen them. At least you'ed have to lower your car 1/2 inch all the way around. Then you chances of hitting more is greatly increased. It's all a matter of taste. And yes your speedo would be off somewhat. If your looking for tires the Firestone RFT are made for C6's in stock sizes. Also kumho makes tires in a non runflat. Both are excellent tires. I've got the firestones. They run great, no noise handle very well, and are $1034 out the door vs goodyears at $1900.
