I have an '08 coupe with 436 hp, automatic, 2.73 rear and stock Goodyear F-1 tires. When I jump on it at various speeds there is a lot of tire spin before hooking up. I'm not planning on drag racing or anything but just like to jump on it when ever possible. What street tires would give better traction? I read about Nitto's, Toyo, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Anybody ever try Goodyear Eagle F-1 GS-D3? Check out this comparison chart: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP Thanks
I live in south Florida. I saw that GM is putting Michelin Pilot Sports on the new 600+ hp ZR 1. With that much hp what's the sense if you are just going to spin your wheels.
Michelin PS2s are great on my car so far....450rwhp/405rwtq and can cut 1.8 60fts at the track. I'd say they grip pretty well for street tires. Handling is improved over the runflats as well as softer ride due to flexible sidewalls,as opposed to marble hard runflat sidewalls.

This is the one downside to the LS3, the added hp and tq finally overcame the grip of the runcrapflats. If you dont drive your '08 in the rain, get yourself some badazz BFG or Nitto Drag radials, though you will have to switch to 18" wheels in the rear as they dont make 19" DR's. You'll hook really good then!

Unfortunently, the comparisons are cumulative based on customer comments, not actual head to head testing. So it's about as valuable as asking 10 people what beer they like & why, then making your decision for your next adult beverage. If you do a search on tire comparisons on the internet by Road & Track, Car & Driver, maybe another you'll get something more accurate. I found a great tire comparison article this way, but it was dated, so the PS2, nor the KDW2s weren't even out, actually most of the latest perf. tires weren't, so unless we can find something that route, anecdodal info from forum members is the best we can get.
I've been questioning what to put on my '07 Z51 A6 coupe (modded to 425 rwhp w/CoW 3.15s). I had the Z06 GY's on CCW 18x10f &19x11r and terrible traction dry and wet (scary) but am thinking BFG KDW 2s in 275/35R18f and 295/35R19r is the way to go this spring. Maybe BFG will come out with a 325/30R19.....
I hope the tire mfg's see these posting and realize the tire needs out here in Corvette world.
If anyone is thinking about going 19 and 20, PS 2s are difficult to get in that size and BF KDWs aren't offered at all. Another consideration would be the Toyo Proxes T1Rs, their latest generation tire for high performance driving.
