I am having kind of an odd problem with my 05 z51 mn6 when going from 5th to 6th. when i initially shift to 6th after releasing the clutch it pops out of gear. Once i shift it back into 6th it stays and runs fine. it only does this in 6th gear. I did search but did not find ayone else complaining of this problem. at first i thought it error on my part, releasing the clutch to soon or something. but i drove the car around a bunch over the weekend ensuring that i was shifting correctly and it still this. So if any of you have a clue please let me know.
no i have not yet taken it to the dealer, and unfortunatly it is just over its warrenty, the car only has about 20000 miles on though. I just figuered i would see if anyone here had delt with this issue first.
in a way, I hope no one else has had the issue. may I suggest if it is very close to the end of warranty, don't drive it to rack up more miles. and try and see if they'll still honor it as a warranty, or very recent warranty issue, if that becomes necessary?
it could be just a change of trans fluid, but I doubt it. hhmmm, have you pm'ed ranger or shopdog? could be they may've heard about this before. how about "chevy tech"?
Sounds to me like you have a speed gear starting to go.....partially rounding which will cause that pop out.....also premature dog ring failure....or even the synchros premature failure.....could be afew things....Those are still T56 trans right?
I just took mine to the dealer, but I didnt say anything about it cause I thought it was my short shifter being lose cause it is kinda lose, but I think it might be a tranny problem. I just bought a three 36,000 mile extended warr. to make sure the tranny is still covered. I told them about my cam and others small modes but they said if the tranny brakes they would cover it. I do power shift my car alot and my friend has a gto and when his tranny went out 6th gear was the first to give him problems when shifting so let me know what happens with your. I have 25,580 miles.

If its popping out of gear, something major is amiss.
Mine did exactly what you're talking about once my car hit ~60k miles. It also had an occassional slight "grind" on the 1-2, and sometimes reverse was hard to find.
Here's what finally happened at 69k miles:
Turns out the root cause of it all was a bad throw-out bearing, an easy and relatively inexpensive fix versus a built T56, which is what I ended up having to do.
My advice would be to check it out with a trusted transmission mechanic ASAP. Small transmission glitches can snowball fast.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they might give you some $#** about your warranty and that short throw shifter.
