I'm having headers w/cats installed on my 08. Should i have the 1 7/8 or 1 3/4 installed? The car is an a6 with a cold air & tune.

Here It Comes, I Am In The Minority, But I Say 1 7/8. Why Would You Want To Restrict Them At All? The Scavenging Difference Is Minimal, I'll Take The Peak Hp Over Low End Power All Day, I Am More Of A Drag Racer. I Cant Use It Low Anyway, Car Doesnt Hook. Plus With The Possibility Of A Cam And N20 Later, I Wanted 1 7/8.

No, in theory you will actually have more low end with the 1 3/4" though some might refute that kind of thinking.
1 7/8" are known to give more up top versus the smaller tubes.

I have Kooks 1 3/4, on an 05 Z51 6sp. The motor is a forged LS3/L92 427. It makes 525rwhp/500rwtq. I see no reason to move up to 1 7/8 headers for some more top end HP. The cost of going to 1 7/8 headers doesn't justify the HP increase. If I'ed started with the 1 7/8 fine, but I didn't. There's nothing wrong using either one. I still think it's a matter of choice. BTW LG doesn't make 1 7/8 and his 1 3/4's are the ones he uses on his race cars. They seem to work fine. Personal preference again. It seems that there are to many variables in motors, heads, strokes, valve size, rpm range, bore, cam, and tunning to say one is far and above the other. That's my opinion anyway.

I had 1 7/8" headers with catted x-pipe and borla stingers installed on my C5 and noticed that the bottom end wasn't near as peppy as it used to be. Once over 4000rpm the car would scream but below that it wasn't as much fun as it was with the stock manifolds. I think I'm going to be going with the 1 3/4" headers this time around.

Nick at ARH told me that 1-3/4 are good to 525hp..So if future mods are going to take you over that, then you might want to consider 1 7/8..I have 1-3/4 and I am at over 350TQ at 2800, really brings on the
