Cleaning a Callaway air filter
I dont know or care what Corvette of Houston says, but you should only use GREEN FILTER CO. cleaner and green colored oil (not clear) on that Green Filter Co. filter of yours.
Not only that, you void the warranty on it as well. In fact, last time I checked, the Callaway Web site sells both the Green Filter kit and K&N Kit. (Callaway switched from the Green Filter Co. filters to the K&N about a year ago). Why would they do that if the K&N kit would do for both? Try calling the Green Filter Company tech support, they'll tell you the same thing.

FYI, my Xcelerator CAI (Calllaway Honker clone) now uses a Green Filter Co. WHITE filter. They used to be green. So I would use Green Filter Co. cleaner and clear oil. So far, mine is clean as a whistle after 7K miles.

Of course the Green filter company would tell you to use their kit...Lol...Thats a no brainer...
I used the K&N filter cleaner charger on mine over 6 months ago, just had it off a few days ago when I clocked my MAF 90 degree`s and put insulation on the upper rad hose to keep the heat soak off the IAT which is in the MAF, and found the filter to be nice and clean. No damage noted and I ran 11`s in the 1/4 in my bolt on car w/ green filter cleaned and oiled w/ a k&N kit. So no air restriction from say a breakdown in the material from using K&N products.
Of course Callaway would sell both kits, the companies won`t warranty their filters w/ out you using their oil.
However, the correct way to retain your warranty is to stay w/ the green filter company cleaner/charger kit. I just happened to already have the K&N kit and called CoH`s Tech line to verify if it was ok. He told me the same thing I already surmized, both are a cotton gauze filter.
Each to their own. I`m not trying to beat you up, I personaly think both will work, but the green filter kit is a better choice to retain your warranty if thats what you are concerned about. I was not concerned about the warranty.
The question is, do both have the exact same cotton material/contents/% and do both use the same oil material/content/%? Not concerned about warranty either, but since I highly doubt anyone knows the answers to both questions except the engineers at Green Filter and K&N. I do know you should not use clear oil on a green filter, nor green oil on a white filter. So I know there are differences between those two oils, aside from obvious color. I think it might be wise to stick with each one's recommended cleaner and oil, though in a pinch its good to know your experience.

Partially yes, the other would be better air on the 11.98 pass the DA was about 500 points lower to my recolection.
One thing I`ve noticed on years of racing my 96 Trans Am , that was a 4k stalled auto car, that if I hooked a better 60 foot by .10 it equaled .15 on the big end of the 1/4. That was with the TA and I had probably 350 passes in that car. I averaged them up. .15 1/4 reduction for .10 60 foot reduction was the norm.
I don`t have enough passes and seat time in this MN6 vette yet to really get a feel for how a MN6 .10 reduction works out to on the big end. I`m going to a rental in april and should have a better idea. It may be the same or it may be more of an increase. We`ll see.
I have a 2010 Camaro deposit down w/ Rick at Les Stanford that I will be getting in an auto for drag racing. I bought my vette mainly for street, to have fun in, hence the stick vs auto. Auto`s are much better for drag racing, Imho..Hope to have the best of both worlds by having both cars. My vette will stay stock internal but will get a blower for fun on the street, and my LS3 Camaro will get a big cam, big stall and the supporting bolt-ons for the track. I just hope they figure out how to remove TM from the pcm on the launch for the A6.
Oh, am all for the removal of TM on the A6 launch...hope HP Tuner comes up with the solution
in their next version.

I`m w/ ya on the looks of the Challenger, pure retro, and thats what I like as well,(I`m 38) its just so darn heavy and LS engines are just so darn easy to modify for big gains. Not to mention the hookup we have here w/ the forum dealers vs paying 10k over sticker first year on the Challenger. Once its out a couple of years the price will come back down though..
I`ve always had a firebird of some sort since I was 16, I`m birdless currently and not happy my new pony car will be a chevy vice a pontiac. Manufacturing costs..,CAFE...Such is the world we live in today...

Maybe I should start using K&N cleaner/oil in my Xcelerator (Honker clone) with Green Filter Co. white filter!
What brand DR's do you use and at what pressure?
I have one of the eariler Green Filters. I would not recommend that you mix & match on the cleaning. It may just be OK But for $20 why chance it?
