Shift Lever Interlock Problem
I am hoping someone can help to avoid taking it to the dealer AGAIN. I have a 06A6 and recently noticed that when I press down on the brake in order to put the vehicle into gear I hear a very loud sound coming from under the shift lever. I am sure that it is the safety interlock that prevents the vehicle from shifting into gear without the brake pressed down, but I do not recall ever hearing the loud of a sound before. Is there an easy fix or is it dealer time again? Or is it possible that everyones is that loud and for some reason I just never noticed it, which I do not believe that to be the case? If I have to take it to the dealer I will since they have an A/C control module waiting to put in because mine sticks. Not to vent, as I do enjoy driving the car, but two times in for rear differential problems, two times in for the roof, A/C control module, weather stripping coming off all over the place, and now another problem. All of this with only 11,000 miles on the vehicle. Honestly, I do love driving the car, but after this one I do not think I will purchase another one. I tend to get a new vehicle every 2-3 years and have never had so many issues with a brand new car.
