I have searched, but its not really helping. Unlike everyone else, I am NOT putting the car on jackstands. All I did was drive up on some 2x4's so I could have room to reach the lower bolt. The leaf spring is NOT touching the bushing and you can clearly see that it is separated from it. According to everyone on this forum, I should be able to turn the bolt counter clock wise by hand....which ain't gonna happen. I can't even make it budge with a ratcheting wrench. Obviously I am doing something wrong. I know you are supposed to jack the leaf spring when the car is in the air on jack stands to take the pressure off the bolt. I thought I could get around that situation by just lowering the car as it sat, and not putting it in the air. What is going on here? Any help is appreciated.
are the wheels off the ground? you dont have to use hack stands just lift the rear or the car so the wheels are off the ground and it will be asy to turn the bolts then.
You need to raise the spring so the bushing is not touching the lower control arm. That is what is causing the tension on the bolt. Relieve that and the bolt will turn (usually).
Counterclockwise from the top to lower the car.
