LT headers w/o catback?

Im about to install LG PRO headers on my 08 c6 and keep the stock catback. how much power am I losing by not upgrading the catback aswell?

Bases on what I've seen and read catbacks do not really offer any significant hp gains, maybe 5 HP at most. I could not feel any difference with Flowmasters, maybe others are better.

I wouldn't worry about using the stock catback.

Some of the Vette rags claim around 15 HP for cat backs. I read one that claimed 22 HP for the Bullets. I think 5 HP is about right.

I ran my car for a few weeks with just headers and then added the Corsa Sports exhaust later. It runs fine both ways. I really don't think the catbacks add much power, they just make the whole package sound great. If you like the quiet/stealth mode, keep the stock exhaust.
I do think there is a substantial gain in either eliminating the cats or adding hi-flow cats.

I added LG Pro Long Tubes about 3 weeks ago to my '08 C6 and did not change the stock catbacks. I am taking it this weekend to get a Borla exhaust system installed. I am hoping for some increase in power simply from going from the stock 2.5" tubes to the 3" tubes. I will let you know next week what the exact increase is.

I just installed dynatech with cats and gained 28 rwhp 27trq. That was with the stock cat back. I dont think the cat back is much of a restriction. The car is nice quiet sleeper

Headers worked great with the stock catback. I switched and didn't gain 1 HP on my Ls2

Headers gave me 28\32 on a heads and cam car...

IMHO. Cat back exhausts are more of a weight reduction over OEM exhausts than HP gain. Less weight allows the HP you have to be more effective at accelerating the car.

Unless it's Corsa Sports or Corsa Touring.......then it's a weight GAIN.
