I'll be removing my rack and pinion to swap cams shortly. I don't see any talk about anything special needing to be done other than re-connect the lines afterwards. Just wanted to confirm that I don't need to bleed it or anything once I'm done. Also, if I need to top if off or decide to swap fluid entirely what kind of fluid does it take and what is the best (reasonably priced) stuff to put back in?
The service manual says to bleed the power steering -
fill it to the full cold mark.
engine off, front wheels off the ground, turn the steering wheel lock to lock 12 times.
refill to full cold mark.
start engine, do a couple lock to lock turns and recheck level.
It just uses regular power steering fluid. The GM part # is 89021184, it is just call GM Power Steering Fluid.
