Default Key Fob\Memory

ok.
here is the deal.all of the sudden my key fobs are weird. for as long as i remember this is how they work. for example: my wife is fob #1. i am fob#2. my wife is the last one to drive the car. i decide to run to the store and get in the car to leave, as soon as i open the door the seat adjusts to my settings from memory. that feature is no longer working . sometimes it adjusts but most the time it does not. its very obvious since my wife has hers set for the seat to be raised to the highest position and mine to the lowest and all the way back. The dealership is telling me that i am incorrect and that it is not designed to work that way. they are telling me that the seat should not move at all when i open the door but only when i start the ignition and that if it has been in the past, that is has been malfunctioning. can anyone confirm the true function? i have a 2005 C6-A4 Coupe.

Some times computers go wacko. Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and reconnecting and see what happens.

i tried the battery disconnect thing and it didnt seem to help. im wondering if it is something to do with the easy exit setting. maybe my wifes fob was originally set to put the seat all the way down when she exits. that would put the seat in my position, all the way down and back.???? not sure though. i wish someone could tell me for sure how it is supposed to work. The dealership told me they called bowling green but they also told me the seat should not move at all untill the engine is started. well, as soon as my wife opens the door the seat raises all the way up, which is her normal position........

According to the 2005 Owner's Manual, p. 2-67 and p. 3-68:

yes, i looked at my owners manual and read your excerpt, however, the rearview mirrors adjust when you open the door (not upon engine start). i would be willing to bet that mine is not the opnly one that does that. And why does the fob # 1 aotomatically raise the seat to the highest position upon entry (not engine start) and fob # 2 does not.
there is an inconsistency in the way the seat responds to fob 1 & 2. i think i will reverse the seat settings for fob 1 & 2 and see what happens.

i finally figured it out. It was the easy exit memory setting. i dont recall ever setting that up originally when i got the car, but apparently it was.
Also, i dont understand why the dealership couldent have explained this to me. all they could tell me is that the seat should not move untill i push the start engine button and that it was working the way it was supposed to.

Because these are the same guys that couldn't tell me that the two symmetrical "rips" in my C5's passenger seat were access slits for the child seat attachments.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am beginning to believe we have finally moved into the arena of "too many features" on our vehicles (and cell phones). My wife's 07 Escalade has auto-everything, and heaven help you if you accidentally reset something and don't remember how to restore the setting. No wonder the user's manual is over 500 pages!

Rant mode now off...
