Question about having a CARB #. Does anybody know if it even matters if an intake has a CARB #? Do you think a smog tester will deny the visual inspection during a smog check? Does the smog technician even know what a stock intake looks like anyway? Just curious what others think. I recently installed a Vortex and I am curious if I will need to put the stock intake on when it comes time to smog it.

Where I live, the smog police inspectors are not allowed to open up the hood. Only the gas cap! So much for that problem. Now, if they only remember not to clean their mirrors for a few weeks before they look under the car and see my Kooks Hi Flo Cats.

In California a visual inspection is made. They look for any changes and CAI and headers are part of the inspection. Probably some of the techs don't know an after market intake from the factory unit. It's the chance you take.
