I Am New To The Vette World But Not New To Manual Trans And Want To Know If Corvette Clutchs Tend To Be Soft. My 08 Has 160 Miles It Grabs Fine, Pulls Fine, And Power Shifts Like A Dream But The Pedal Is Soft. Is This Normal? I Heard It Is Hydrolic And Not Like My X- Mustangs Cable True Or False? Thank You All.

The C6 clutch pedal is over-assisted... feels way too light and it's very hard to apply smoothly as a result. There is a 'clutch assist spring' mounted at the top of the pedal that is easy to remove. This will stiffen-up your pedal nicely. Many others (myself included) have fitted a clutch spring from the C5... makes the clutch just about perfectly-weighted, IMO. Do a search and you'll find a ton of info.
I run without any assist spring on my 08 and love it. Some insist that the spring is more than an assist spring and is also somehow a return spring- I have some doubt about that and have no issues running no spring. I find the effort with no spring to still be very light and the feel is 100% better.
I've had my spring out for months with no problem, others have had it out for years no problems. I think the manual was wrong on that one...just like the manual that says my convertible has a rear trunk draw down is wrong.
I can't imagine anyone is harder on their clutch than me with hundreds of 4500-5500 drag strip launches. It keeps chugging along, I'm proud of that clutch.
I'm sure your just trying to look out for us by continually posting that everytime someone asks this question but I haven't heard of anyone having problems due to the spring removal. And if anyone is proof that removing the spring doesn't hurt anything Joe_G is definetly living proof. I've also had mine out for at least 6 months and 1 track visit and plenty of "spirited" driving and plenty of burnouts this is all on my DD with zero issues. Of course though, I always clean my clutch fluid at least once a month so maybe that contributes to why it has no problems but everyone with a MN6 should be doing that anyways.

I recently bought a 05 mn6 with about 30 thou miles and it feels like the clutch is going to me.Fine in first and second but when you start to really hook and pull in 3rd it feels like it slips?Could this be dirty fluid?hoping
Hey Dave, I'd just check you clutch fluid to double check. Clear is perfect/new anything dirtyish or murky or black should technically be replaced. I do mine about every month. Just pop the hood and look for the little fluid resivoir containter and if it looks very dirty I would definetly replace it. It might help but do you know the history of the 30k miles? It might have been abused.
Go HERE For directions and changing clutch fluid. Use DOT4 Brake Fluid.
You could always try putting your e-brake on (like you are parking your car) and slowing engaging the clutch in first and if the car dies. If it does then your clutch is good but if it starts to rev and the clutch is pretty far out then it is probably a sign that your clutch is bad.
