Whilst peering under the rear of the car to mentally weigh-up what will be involved in fitting my new Borla Stingers (pic attached), I noticed an oil leak from the driver's side rear half shaft/diff. I've had quite a bad clunking noise coming from the rear of the car when coming on and off the throttle at low speeds (although it may also be present at higher speeds, but inaudible due to tyre/exhaust/wind noise) and have been suspecting CV joint / UJ problems. Looks like this maybe the culprit.
Is this (diff leak) a common issue on the C6? I previously had a C5 and I know it was common on C5s. Is it likely my diff seals have gone on that side, or is there a CV joint under that boot at the end of the half shaft?
It is a fairly common problem. Sometimes it is just oil coming out the vent. That's what mine was. It happened after a 3000 mile trip in hot weather. The vent is on top of the differential on the drivers side. It is round and looks like a nickel.

Interesting pic.. thanks!
I'll feel above the half shaft when I fit the Stingers and see if the leak is coming down from the top of the diff, around the vent, or if it's coming from the seals at the side.
