Default Vortex Rammer

There's not much talk about this system within the forum, why is that?
I need to make up my mind soon and it seems that Vararam is the "God" of CAI. That system seems functional but it just doesn't do anything for me in the look department. The Vortex (althought more expensive) seems to be equal in performance gains and IMO looks a whole lot better

Any thoughts?

I have the Vortex Rammer and am very satisfied with it. Give Ernie a call at Breathless and he will give you as much time as you need to answer all your questions. The Breathless unit is a very high quality setup that in my opinion is well worth the extra money. In all fairness the Vararam and the Vortex appear to give similar gains in performance but approach it a little differently with the most obvious differences being filter design and the position of the air intake. I am more comfortable with the air intake being a little farther back and higher up rather than at the grille due to the possibility of water ingestion down lower. Ernie's experience has shown that the area of highest air pressure is behind the front air dam and not behind the grille. I suspect that the popularity of the Vararam may be due to it's price and "me too" factor. I tend to be somewhat of a contrarian myself. You will be very happy with the performance of the Vortex, especially the improvement in overall smoothness and drivability it provides, plus it looks great under the hood especially if you remove all the decals!

I recently installed the Vortex and love it. If you do a search, you will find more posts about the Vortex around a 1 1/2 to 2 years back. I can only surmise that it is the extra cost of the unit as to why more do not use it. See my install post below for my impressions on the Vortex. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1963296
