Default Drive by Wire Solution

Hello,

I never post in this section because I own a C4. I own a company that focuses a lot on Mercedes tuning and one of the products we've been carrying for a while is now available for the C6 and Zo6. It's called a Sprint Booster and basically what it does is amplify the signal from the pedal to the TB and cause the throttle to more linear and responsive.
The reason I'm posting is because I'm curious to see if this is an issue on these cars. In the Benz world the throttle is terrible, and this makes a huge difference. I can order one if anyone wants to be the Guinea Pig.

PM or email me at info@tvtdesign.com if anyone is interested.

Thanks,
Anthony

If you had more info, and described in more detail what this actually does, I might want to try one.

OK.

Drive by Wire (DBW) has been known to cause significant lag in throttle response when compared to a cable actuated throttle. You hit the gas, the car processes, and then reacts. Whne you blip the throttle it takes additional time to rise and additional time to fall. Down shifting, throttle matching, even launching are much harder to smoothly perform.

The Sorint Booster (SB) plugs into the pedal assembly inline with the DBW cable. It amplifies the signal to allow the throttle to open at 50% when the pedal is pushed 30% and WOT at 50% pedal. These are merely examples and I have no research to support the exact percentages on corvettes. The stock mapping at best will be a 50% throttle matched to a 50% pedal, but more often then not it will be 50% throttle and 60% pedal.

Yes the same condition can be met with flooring it all the time, but this is meant more for a natural driving feel and day to day driving. We've track tested the product with our shop car and noted no increase in performance, this is not what it does.

The best example I can give is driving a highly tuned N/A car compared to a small lag turbo car. Both have tremendous power when floored, but it's the day to day blipping that makes it a noticeable difference.

I noticed this right away when I bought my car. Still notice it and it still bothers me. My '96 Silverado has better throttle response.

I'd definitely be interested in fixing this, but not sure how well this would really work; even when you floor it and let off, it revs slow, and decels slow, IMO. Can't you achieve the same effect w/a tune?

Again, all the knowledge I have about this product is from the Mercedes world.

A tune will not effect the throttle response. It will give your car better HP and make it seem more responsive, but it will not change how the pedal and throttle body interact.

Here: http://www.mbworld.org/forums/showth...sprint+booster

There are a lot of customers who love these products over there. Check it out and give it a good read. Retail price is 329.00. Since I'm just as curious as you all to see how this works on the Vette I can do it at a lower price for the person that wants to try it.

We've installed them in BMW 3-6 series, every MB car including all the AMG, Crossfires, Minis, 350Z, all audi and VW, RX8, Miata, and just recently the company released some for the domestic market and Honda applications.

I believe Throttle response can be adjusted by a tuner, they can adjust the throttle response up to 88% of throttle....I don't know what the factory setting is........

I'm sure some that tune will respond to this.....I know in Benzes and other cars, the comp is flashed, in Vettes it's tuned

Hope this doesnt come off wrong or rude (not my intention)....but

I don't get this post. If it is already available, shouldn't the research to see if it is needed already be completed?

I just bought my 2007 and still have my '96 LT4 (that is posted for sale in C4s for sale/wanted). I asked the same question the C6 general discussion about soft acceleration. I've noticed that C4 is much crisper and feels better. Most replies agreed and said that "that's the way it is with C5 and C6". I'd like a more responsive throttle. I've also heard on this forum that "re-tuning" will void the warranty. Anyone else heard the same?

I'm formerly from the Mustang world and this issue came up in '05 with the current generation Mustang. I don't know what the resolution was but Drive-by-Wire was closing the throttle on WOT shifts even if you kept your foot down on the throttle. I did not follow the issue through but I believe the problem was solved with tuning.

Before buying into any of this Sprintbooster hype, Please read this technical Whitepaper...

The research has been done and the product available is application specific, but not all cars are plagued the same way by DBW. So I wanted someone to try it out and note if there is a noticeable difference. For the MB crowd it's a night and day difference, with the Mini not so much. Mini's don't have terrible throttle lag as it is and as a result this product didn't prove to be cost effective.

Read the attachment above and note it says everything I'm saying. The Sprint Booster is not meant to improve any 0-60 times, your not going to choose this mod to win a dyno competition, the difference is milliseconds, but as we all know in driving milliseconds are a lot. Look at the newer dual clutch transmissions, each one outodes the previous by a few milliseconds and it's amazing.

Will this mod make you feel like you added a supercharger? NO.
Will this mod drastically increase your throttle response to that of an ITB engine? NO.
Will this mod make day to day driving much more enjoyable with crisper more natural throttle response? YES.

I'll work hard to get a test project going for you guys.

Anthony

I think that with more rapid tip-in (I think that is what it's really called) it would be too touchy for me. Unless I misread something. I don't want a really fast response when I'm trying to ease out the clutch and ease in the throttle. For any kind of racing, that would be the ticket!
I certainly appreciate the concept and for some of these folks it will be to their liking, I'm sure.

dont know how this would work since the TB sensor would indicate one thing the throttle position another and the MAP another. Could the ECM handle this as a plug n play?

Back when I had a crossfire I know people on the crossfire forum where using these with great results. I don't think the corvette has the same delay in the drive by wire system as the MB products. some one will need to take the plunge and do some quarter mile times.
