The notchiness is due to the transmission, rather than the shifter. Some have had success in changing the trans fluid for an aftermarket brand (RedLine, Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc). The notchiness will be worse when cold (thicker oil). Better to have a notchy, but stout, transmission rather than a slick-shifting, but weak one.
Thanks for the info.I guess i'll order a MGW shifter. Now I have to decide if I want the 25% or the 35%.Wish I knew someone that had them installed so I could see which I prefer. Rod

He only sells a 30% now. The other two have been merged so to speak.
I would also recommend the MGW shifter **** also as some have had some trouble with the stock ****.
Notchiness is the trans has NOTHING to do with the shifter. Sloppiness, yes (due to the rubber components in the stock shifter to damp vibration), but not notchiness. If anything perceived notchiness INCREASES with a short-shifter due to the increased shift effort.
Notchiness, when defined as a lack of finesse when shifting and an 'obstructive' feeling, is a function of transmission design and the oil being used in it.
