Now I have read many post's about the F-55 but i was wondering if the base suspension is that great of a difference from F-55. From the people that have tried both is it woth getting a 08 3lt vett with or with out the F-55 option. Thanks for the post.
My 06 Vette had the base suspension and my 08 has the F55. By far the F55 is better. Ride in the tour mode is as good or better, less body roll and more sure foot in the corners. I have not really even checked out the sport setting yet. IMO unless you are interested in a custom suspension setup the F55 is the only way to go.
Well, here's the skinny... F55 kicks total butt until it has problems. IF it does, it's gonna cost you a LOT of money to fix.
Other than that, the F55 is sweet... Great ride on touring, and nice and tight on sport.
All depends on what you want in the end... I ended up opting out of it, but it wasn't because I didn't like it. It's costly, and I was really wigged out about my cousin's repair bill when things went wrong.
My advice would be to take a test drive with a stock suspension 'vette. It's definitely the smoothest riding 'vette ever... If you want smother and don't mind the cost, go F55.
I have F55, on my 07, and added Z51 sway bars. This tightens things up, in corners. - I really don't use the "sport" mode. -- Next time, I plan to get std suspension, and add Z51 bars. -- --

Hmmm this is good info for me ordered my 08 c6 with std. suspension so upgrading to the z51 bars made a big dif? I did think about the f55 package but decided not to get it. The std. car will be enough for us...well for now anyway...maybe the next car. were the bars costly?

It really depends how you drive the car. I ordered my 07 daily driver with the base suspension. After 9000 miles, I love it. But I don't track the car or light my hair on fire in the corners. Dont get me wrong, I do open her up every chance I get. I enjoy the ride very much. I find it interesting a couple of guys said they dont use the sport mode on the F55 much. I had the selectable ride on my C5 for years and always kept it in 'tour.' If I desire, I can install a set of upgraded sway bars and shocks for a lot less $ than the F55. And that works for me.
Standard black rubber bushing that come from GM or you can order Pfadt (sp) for about $30+ or which are the best, I would recommend these over GM. The $180 price included the GM bushing which are something like $25, the Pfadt had about a $30 shipping or so. Maybe someone knows where to get them locally and save on the shipping which really drives the price up.
