Doing the over the axel exhaust you will only gain a few hp (5hp maybe) If you want more power and a great sound, do long tube headers and x-pipe and bolt that to the stock mufflers. Most bang for the $ in the terms of exhaust, but that is my .02

There are no significant gains to be had with mufflers or x-pipe. Now add a set of headers with em and ya got something.

Over Axel is for sound only... Cat-back only a few H.P.

if your looking for horsepower from an exhaust you need to go with Long tube headers

Borla Sport! Minimal if any hp gain but the sound makes you think you're going faster than you are.

The sound of an exhaust is very subjective and you really can't form an opinion listening to sound clips.. If the chance arises, ride in a vette with an exhaust your thinking about buying before you pull the trigger.. I had B&B bullets on my 05 A-4 and they sounded great but had a pretty noticeable drone around 55 mph.. I took them off last month and put the stock exhaust back on when I had LG long tubes installed..The car is just right for me now.

I have the the kooks 1 7/8" with catted x-pipe and stock mufflers. There's a tiny bit more growl to it when you start it up, but not a whole lot.

There is a pretty good difference at around 2500rpm, and a much meatier sound. I really like it a lot!

I got the borla stingers (axle back), plan on LG long tubes w/cats soon. Borla claims a few HP gain but with the axle back I assume its in the upper RPM range and is hardly noticable. Add headers to that and you can expect another 30 - 40HP (mid RPM range) to the car, plus an awesome sound as well!

I suggest you listen to some vid clips before you decide, thats what i did.

Anybody with headers and high flow cats ever fail their local emissions??
I want to do all of this, but I am a chicken.

I had Kooks headers running thru the stk mufflers. While the sound was louder than stk it was still not quite what I wanted. I do not like loud as many forum members do so went with the magnaflow catback. Much deeper rumble with no drone and sounds perfect for my taste. Not obnoxious but definitely an inprovement over stk including the 4 inch tips that look so much better than the little 2 1/2 inchers that come stk. If you go with headers/cai you do need a tune to get the most benefit out of the mods

Anybody have headers, high flow cats and leave there stock exhaust. I am wondering if it will give you a deeper sound, the power you need and still some what quiet in the cabin. Also some what of a stealth look.

GHL here. Prior to headers, it has the sound you describe you want.

Magnaflow. LOVE the sound! BUT, at 70-75 MPH there is a deep tone that sounds good for 10 minutes ... after that it sorta drills your head. I wonder if any of them are actually pleasant at cruise speed. UHM, excluding NPP.
