Default Some Quick Dyno #'s on Absorbtion Dyno

Thought I would post up some quick numbers that Ed @ B&P Performance got out of my car today on his brand new absorbtion dyno....The chart compares the "Canned" 93 Octane Header Tune, that comes in the Predator handheld vs. a quick custom tune done by Ed....just some max power #'s for now as the car sits. He's doing a ported Intake and Tb, along with a set of Harland Sharp 1.8 Rockers and a full tune this week to the car. We just wanted to get some baseline numbers before the new mods.
HP 362.1
TQ 384.9

So pretty much your car gained nothing with the canned predator tune, as 345rwhp is close to the stock average.

This again goes to show anyone wondering, that you can't beat a custom tune, way too much power is left on the table.

BTW your results are in-line with others who've got a custom tune after using a Diablo handheld, each time there are massive gains........would save the person $ just to get a custom tune from the start.

Nice results!

Mike good numbers there. Looks like + 19 Tq and + 17 Hp , Your
predator tune vs Pro tune. My gut tells me your going to do 400 with
the ported units and the advantage of the HARLAND SHARP rockers. My
tuner also says HARLAND SHARP is the way to go. I think you are going to 1.80 or was it 1.70 ? Anyway good luck with your next set of numbers. Leon

His car has intake and headers as well...so 345 seems VERY low.

Very Cool stuff, I run Harland Sharp rockers on mine too. Not 1.8s but still.

Full exhaust on a manual with a canned tune resulting in 345 is still horridly low though.

His new numbers are a different story

It might have made more if I revved it to the moon.

Ed
Pretty much exactly what I saw when I ran the Predator 93 octane tune on my former LS2 GTO......it made LESS power with the Diablo tune because of knock, car picked up power running the stock tune! After that expirience I swore off Diablo handhelds for my future cars.

Wish more people would take a look at threads like this, would help them make a better informed decision on which to go with (handheld vs shop tuner)

Thanks Leon, I am hoping I hit that number....There is no doubt I'll get there in torque, but my hp seems just a little low as is, so we'll see.

I'm going with the 1.8 HS rockers, BTW.

Default Final #'s ARE IN!!!!!!!

Ok, below is the final graph after the Ported LS2 Intake & TB, Harland Sharp 1.8 Rockers, and Dyno tune on Ed's Absorbtion Dyno.
Here's some history to catch everyone up:

07 M6 Coupe, 3.42 Gears (Z51). Just passed 3000 miles.

Vararam, Stingers, LG Pros, and Canned Predator Header tune:
345.7 RWHP
365.1 RWTQ

Same Mods, with Ed's tweaking on the dyno:
362.1 RWHP
384.9 RWTQ

Same Mods with addition of Ported LS2 Intake & TB, Harland Sharp 1.8 Rockers:
380.3 RWHP
388.7 RWTQ

A Total 34.6 RWHP and 23.6 RWTQ Increase......Not bad at all . Keep in mind these numbers are on an Absorbtion Dyno and will read a little less than on a Dyno Jet (Inertia Machine) I would think the same car on a Dyno Jet would be in the neighborhood of 400/400

Thanks Again Ed!

Mike, I like that torque curve, it snaps right up there and stays flat. I
wouldnt get hung up on peak numbers. Its the increase in the HP/ TQ curve that counts. Good numbers, Leon

Thanks Leon.....I'm talking to my tuner right now about going with a ported FAST, like you did. You got great results with that over your Ported LS2....I think I need to definately go that route.

Default Considering the FAST ?

The FAST would be a an improvement over OEM. I know i had some money into it though. It was all worth it in the end when the numbers came in. One thing of note with the FAST is there are many sold that includes the porting . " there is porting and there is porting " That being
said I would want to know who ported it. I would make sure itis done by a notionally recognized name . Maybe ED has some experience with it
or may refer you. The installation is easy when the mods are done.

Yeah, Ed has a brand new flowbench at his shop. He has a good bit of experience with porting LS manifolds......I would've probably send it to Corey at LS2portworks or Jeremy if he didn't.....The flowbench doesn't lie
