Default Headers Question, Please Help

GREETINGS,
OK, MY CAR SO FAR HAS MAGNAFLOW, X-PIPE, TB SPACER, VAVARAM INTAKE AND AFTER DYNO TUNING IT, MY CAR IS MAKING 371RWHP. FIRST , IS IT GOOD?
SECOND, I WAS TOLD THAT IF I PUT SOME LONG TUBE HEADERS AND DYNO TUNE IT AGAIN, IT WILL GAIN ABOUT 30RWHP? IS IT TRUE OR
MY QUESTIONS TO ALL THE EXPERTS HERE IS, IF IT IS TRUE, WHICH LONG TUBE HEADERS SHOULD I GO FOR? KOOKS, LG, SLP ETC?

Welcome....First thing you should is turn off your CAPS lock!

As for headers, yes the right set-up should add ~30 RWHP to your car. As for what brand, well that's a subject that has been beaten to death on here. I have Kooks and I'm satisfied with them, LG certainly has a large following and LG likes to tell everyone that their headers are the best. I would suggest you either do a search and read through some of the many posts or speak to some of the vendors and get their opinion based on your goals and what will work best with what you've already got installed. Best of luck with this project!

You won't gain 30RWHP over your existing 371RWHP. Most LS2's will not reach 400RWHP with bolt-on mods on an SAE corrected Dynojet.

My '05 6spd manual;

Mufflers only = 346 RWH.
add Dynatech 1 7/8" headers/cats/X pipe = 365RWHP
add Lingenfelter CAI = 375RWHP
add CoW Tune & 160° t'stat= 377RWHP
add ported stock intake manifold =384RWHP

(Some of the RWHP #'s were at smoothing 3, some at smoothing 5)

The tune didn't add much measurable HP but made a BIG difference in the way the car feels.

With what you have there adding lg,kooks,ar or any of the top named headers would get you to about 385. Thats what most dyno with a
compliment of boltons as described. Porting the TB & intake and a good tune most of the good ones are getting 390's.

You definatly want headers...they are the building block mod with the LSX and make everything better.

We have a pretty good sale going here if interested-

Stay with 1 3/4" primary diameter header tubes unless you are adding a blower. Shop around for the best price on LG, Kooks, or American Racing headers. All three are excellent and can be argued as the best.

You need to make a decision on whether you are going to purchase an X pipe with hi-flow catalytic converters, or just straight pipe. If you have a smog inspection in your state, then you must purchase the X pipe with cats and this will incease the price.

I agree, & don't listen to that room to grow stuff, unless you stroke or go F/I, 1-3/4 are fine, but go w/ Kooks 3" x-pipe & 3" all the way back to your mufflers. I later added ported FAST intake, cam, underdrive pulley, plus and the 1-3/4 flowed well enough to make 452rwhp/418rwtq.

It's not worth it, you're likely to get a CEL w/ the headers anyway, as the car leans out too much, so getting a tune will take care of it, but the real problem when add headers w/o cats the car gets way too loud. It will sound like 60s muscle car w/ headers & glasspacks & it will be fun for about 5 minutes. The performance gain is next to nothing, if it's money, this is not the place to skimp.

Mike I also agree that 1 3/4 " Headers would be a great choice for him.
By the way did the FAST make your car sound louder. Mine did. I wish
you would share those cam specs with me. Im impressed with your numbers I know you ported the fast yourself. That was a good amount of savings. I know he wants to get to 400 RWHP/TQ. I dont know anyone outside of ACHILDS who achieved it without a FAST/ PORTED.

Unfortunately yeah, there's more mechanical noise, I'm assuming from the intake, & the car's just plain loud period from I guess everything together. I am going to swap out the Flowmasters, just not sure w/ what, stock, NPP, or Z06.

Adding headders helps with HP, but does it take away low end torque?

ALL Long tube headers will give you a substantial gain in hp and tq. How
much they add will depend on what you have to start and the tune you finally get when all is said and done.

I have an 2007 6 spd manual car, Z51 package.

1 3/4" Kooks headers, catted mid pipe, Callaway CAI, 160 degree thermo and a tune by Cartek. Made 385 rwhp and 374 tq. Car had less than 1000 miles on odometer.

I was told 1 3/4 unless going forced induction.

Very satisfied with the results of the work performed on my car. Good luck with yours.
