'05 c6 4 speed auto question
Am considering buying a '05 with the 4 speed auto trans. Was wondering if there were any problems with that trans. Would like some owner's feed back.

I have no problems with mine however you may want to stay away from the track with the A4. The differential case is one weak motha!
Dennis, didnt you get Cartek to swap out for the C5 case?

This is true but fortunately the automatics tend to live a lot longer/better than the manuals.

I have had no issues with my A4. While I don't abuse it I have had it to the track twice with no issues. Wheel hop seems to be the biggest problem and that usually with the manuals, at least that is what I have read.

Had a problem with getting the shifter out of park when sitting on level ground with my 05. Dealer eventually replaced the shifter.

Track days aren't your friend with the A4. There is no rev matching when down shifting which can get really annoying and isn't the best for the rear diff either.

I have a 2005 A4 with 3.15 gears. Absoutely trouble free. I have taken the car to several 1/4 mile track rentals without any problems.
Unless you intend on materially increasing the horsepower the A4 as is will be fine.

'05 A4 3:15s, no issues for 20k miles.
Then, as a proactive measure, I swapped out the trans for a custom built stage5 A4 w/ hardened shafts since I increased HP and upgraded to 3:73s with stall converter.
Now 3k miles later, still no issues except a big silly grin that will not diminish.
