Oil Overfull
But when I got home checked the oil and it looked over full, looked at the bill (no charge) and it has 8 qts. Called the service manager and he said it may be a little over full and asked me how much is it over the full mark is it, its 1 ¼ inches, he said that about a pint.
Don’t have a clue if that’s true and I know its bad to overfill, hopefully it hasn’t damaged the motor. I won’t drive it until I drain some out. Thinking of writing GM about it but maybe it’s not that big of a deal.
They must have got confused with a Z06 which takes 8. I'd take in your owner's manual, open it to the capacities page and say - put exactly this much in, and refund my bill for the hassle.
Un F'n believable they could screw up the simplest of services on a corvette.
My opinion on oil level, in a wet sump like the LS1,2,3,6, 1/2 qt over on the street is fine. 1 qt over for racing is fine. Never want to be over 1 qt over.
I changed my oil in my 07 yesterday in my garage. There were moments yesterday that I thought, 'this is a pia, why don't I just pay someone to do this?'
Then, as I tended to every single detail like cleaning the magnetic drain plug, torquing the plug and filter, marking the plug, cleaning the oil pan/engine, etc, I knew only I could do this to the level perfection I expect.
And that is why I avoid any dealership IF it is a job I can do myself.
