Default 2006 Differential Case

I cracked the Differential case on my 2006 C6 last night at the drag strip. The car is a 6 sp. with a Cartek H/C package, 4.10's, nitrous, plus other things. I'm thinking about a DTE stage five unit and a beefed-up 4 sp. automatic. Need some ideas forum members. Thanks.

Hey sorry about your luck last night. I was the guy with the virginia tech hat on that helped get your car on the trailer. Auto is the way to go for the track and its alot easier on the rear than a m6.

Well that will be a potential 9 second car with the built automatic and the right gear and converter combo.
But do you really want to give up that cool/fun manual trans on the street?

Hell Yeah. Too old for a manual. My legs and other things do not operate as designed. It's time for an automatic and a strong rear. Strong rears still gather my attention.

Did your transmission let go too, or you're just going to go ahead and change everything because you just want to?

I hear ya there Tom.
I'll still never forget the very first time I saw a 2006 C6 at Cartek and how that awesome new steering wheel helped push me over the edge to order my own a few months later...that 2006 was YOUR car.

Nah it's likely just the rear, meaning he can still sell off the trans for some decent money too.

Getting stronger internals isnt doing anything to make a case stronger so the stage 5 is likely from thinking it will resist the type of failure you had here. I doubt it.

Not to hijack but since he mentioned it, is it possible to swap to an automatic? Now before you post, I didnt ask what it costs, I asked if it was possible. An I didnt ask for a philosophical asnwer like 'anything is possible'. I will refine. HAs anyone doen the swap or knows exactly how its done? I beleive the trans PCM is actually in the trans itself. What is involved?

Did you have wheel hop?

No wheel hop due to QA1's set at 7. The transmission was not affected. I have the DTE differential/transmission brace. I talked to Dave at Cartek last fall, and he said that he had all the components in-house for sale from another customer for an automatic conversion. I will be calling DTE for rear end advice. I welcome vendor offers and suggestions.

I was at Cartek last week and was told that the swap wasnt viable. If it is, I want an automatic. Keep me posted.
