I have an '05 with factory Bose and Nav. I noticed there is a plug under the carpet over the driver's rear wheel right where the xm receiver would be. I'm wondering if I install an xm or sirius receiver will the radio know it's connected or do I have to do some programming?

I got a XM module Ill ship to you for 75 bux. I had to have SIRIUS.
If it's a factory installed XM receiver, it will not work in any other car but the one where it was originally installed. It has the vin encoded in it and it can't be changed.

It can be changed, but the big problem is finding someone who will change it.
I could find no dealer willing to change it in a factory XM receiver I bought second hand.
So what I had was an XM receiver which would play for a few minutes and then shut down.
I ended up going the Sirrius route as well.

Sorry, it can not. My friend who is a GM tech tried doing it to an XM receiver I purchased and was unable. The Tech2 doesn't allow you to do it. It only allows you to re-assign the vin on the head unit. We consulted other techs at the dealership and they came to the same conclusion.
