Default Question??

Who has completely removed the front air dam, both sides and middle? If so, what was your experience? I think the car would look better without it and do away with the annoying scrape. Any negative side affects?

My dealer didn't install the two outside air dams because I had asked they not install the plate holder and he thought I meant don't install anything. I only have the middle one installed and it has been that way for a year and a half. No problems and no one has ever noticed. However, I am thinking of installing them in the next week or so just because and because they are cheap to replace if needed.

I can't confirm this but I have read that they deflect air from under the car so pressure doesn't build up while going fast and cause you to lose control. Maybe its BS or maybe its real but I can't confirm and I just thought I'd throw it out there. I also remember reading that it help cool the car by directing air towards the radiator.

But, if it is scraping why don't you just cut a couple inches off of it.

The air dam is a designed part of both the cooling system (creates negative pressure behind the radiator to increase airflow) and an important part of the aerodynamic design.

So what if it scrapes? when it wears down enough to bother you just replace it, it's a relatively cheap part.

This is fact, they are the front splitter and the scraping is a warning signal, with them you will only know you are too low when the road hits your radiator support brackets.

Yep! car would likely run hot without it.
