Below is what LPE claims. Since the radiator shroud is opened up, I would agree that it passes cooler air than stock.

"The Lingenfelter system is designed to provide lower temperature air from outside the engine compartment in order to produce optimal performance."

LPE is a good unit cold air unit, but unlike Vararam unit, it is more difficult to service the filter.

On my '05 the Lingenfelter was definitely a CAI. The cut in the shroud is HUGE, 8" X 17" and the filter and air box are massive.

What "extra" money? $329.95 is less than most.

LPE is like factory quality, unlike some of the others.

Pretty competitively priced CAI. They also have a bolt-on replacement air-shroud so you don't have to cut up the original. Like $75 or something.

Wow!!! Guess that extra 35HP comes at a hefty price "tax" wise...

I wonder what's so different?

I was wondering the same thing myself. I know there is a different MAF but I have no idea why it's so much more.
