EXACTLY.
It's one thing if a person isn't on line/has no internet access but anyone already posting here obviously IS on line.
It could've been just as easy to FIRST do a little research on those who have installed the thing before you as it was for you to attempt it, screw it up and then come in here bashing an (awesome) product.

Actually you did ask for his .02 when you posted this in a public forum. A friend of mine helped me install mine, and we had no problems. It is probably the best CAI on the market for the C6. I have no complaints at all with mine. Does the filter need to be checked often, well yes. If you wanted factory ease and reliability, you should probably have stuck with the factory setup and just forgot about the hp increase with The VR. Anyway, I hope you get your AC working and enjoy the new power provided by the Vararam

man, everyone is just killing you out here, including me. listen, i know it sucks that you don't have the A/C, but trust me, Vararam is worth all the trouble. i was pissed when i messed up my condencer, but was happy as hell when i noticed my car running so much better. forget about the bad experiance, and look forward to smoke all the other cars without Vararam. look at the positive side of it.
we all make mistake, but you did a good thing by installing Vararam. its worth all the trouble!

The clamps suck, its too tight of a stretch. They do not secure right.

Sell it and buy a LS7 K&N and use some of the left over $250 to port your intake and buy the 30 cent bolts to prop your shroud open.

use a little elbow grease to get the clamps on, if they went on easy they wouldn't be very secure. tight fit = good fit.

Obviously, not. Otherwise you wouldn't be bitching about your incompetance. I spent the extra time in pulling the shroud out, cutting it and then re-installing it. It was tough, but worth it, sometimes laziness costs money.

I think you should cut more of the shroud, down at the bottom towards the bumper. When I first installed mine I had the same issues with the latches. I found that the two halves would not seat correctly beacuse the shroud would not let it sit in the proper position. cut more of it off and the thing settles in place, latches worked great.

Now on to the flaming:

VaraRam..... great idea, pos execution. Can't believe folks are still buying it. Can't believe the manufactures haven't improved it. Maybe it will take a class action for debri injestion to shake things up. I've never known anyone who has owned one that did not eventually fail at the air filter connection, allowing everything from road crap to small children to enter the engine!

I was a little surprised at that connection myself. I couldn't get mine to seal well enough either so I wrapped it with the heavy tape you see on duct work. It will make filter cleaning a PITA but at least the air will be clean. I will probalby end up modifying that connection the next time I have it apart.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...araram+install

Just look at the clamps in this picture (about have way down), its not even my car. I have the exact same issue. Its my only bitch.

Im a technician I work on cars everyday, its just a poor design. If it snaped together and held the airfilter like a airbox it would be great. The performance is awesome and I love it.

That's too bad that you're out the AC and I also agree that the clamps could definitely be improved upon. But you have to take the responsibility for what you did; when I had troubles with the clamps the first place I checked was on this very forum. There is a ton of information here that along with my own common sense, prevented me from doing something stupid.

Now that everything has 'settled' on my car, I have had no problems with the latches staying attached.

This is amazing. I have actually seen this elsewhere and I find it fascinating.

Someone points out problems with a design, and other owners of the product slam the person who ran into problems due to the design defect. In both cases, everyone actually loves the product, but those that did not run into any problems feel it necessary to attack those that ran into the issue.

I think we all agree: the product is fantastic at what it does. But it has shortcomings that have been pointed out countless times.

If the product is not re-engineered to correct the problems, someone else will step in with a better product and steal away the customers.

Vararam does a good job from what I read in dealing with the issues, so I hope for their sake they find it in their best interest to seriously fix the things that are causing problems.

I personally do not own a Vararam, and and as much as I would like to get one, I am not going to take a chance on having dirt get into the engine because the plastic has a tendency to warp (from what I have heard).

The issues with this product come up time and time again. It reminds me of my xbox360. Microsoft has still not fixed the problem with this system and the same problems are cropping up with it, now after 2.5 years on the market.

I'll stick with my stock airbox for now.

Mine fit just right the first time, no issues. If not install error, might be a quality control thing.

If you're not competant with tools and didn't take the time to read the instructions, why would you think it was going to turn out good?

I'm sorry you punctured your condensor. I say that sincerely. I read the posts before I installed my Vararam and went the extra mile to protect the condensor. Not sure what you are talking about regarding the clamps though.

As far as Vararam customer service goes, you will not find a better group of people. My Vararam had some issues and Steve made it right, period. Patrick has spoken to me a long time about different aspects of the Vararam. I feel like these folks care about their product and care about my satisfaction. Very refreshing.

I have noticed your posts, and you are pretty quick to say some really negative things about a product or a vendor. I understand your frustration but these are real people doing an excellent job. You might reconsider your approach here. And that is my 02.
