Can someone please help me understand pulling timing ?
OK I know that at a certain IAT the car starts to pull timing but what exactly does this do. How does changing the timing reduce power AND save the engine from damage ? Thanks for any info to help me understand this.
The C6 pulls timing relative to Intake air temp and also Coolant temp. Advanced timing (up to a certain point) gives more power, past that point it causes detonation.
All computer controlled on our cars. It's great not to have to mess with a timing light and a distributor with static, mechanical and vacuum advance. The hours I spent setting timing and playing with distributor advance curves and testing, then changing and testing again and again and again. Thank God for Electronics!

OK but why/how does advancing or retarding the timing give you more or less power ?
