We had been talking about a delay in acceleration in the 08 A6. A couple of members reported this problem, which was identicle to mine. The dealership finally did a black box analysis while experiencing the 1-2 second delay or bog. They sent it to GM and after analysis GM saod it was a characterisic of the car, hmm. Yes, its ok to delay 1-2 seconds. Well, GM said there would be a software update in 6 months. Then the car developed an oil leak. After several attemots to replace the pan, they determined it was a porous. Yes, you heard me a porous block and they will replace the engine with only 700 miles on this baby. Needlees to say after i motioned to drive the vehicle through the front window lol, they agreed to replace the car. I think im going to try the manual...any thoughts?
My 07 C6 A6 had the same problem. When I accelerated it would bog just like a carb would act if the accelerater pump was bad. I was very disappointed with the car. But after getting a tune that all went away, It now jumps when I stomp on it and shifts much much better.
I don't think the manual has this bog, so IMO you will need to either get a tune for the A6 or go with the manual.
I am very pleased with my A6 now but I may have voided the warranty with the tune.
Wow, do you think thay will really give you a new car? That kind of customer service would be a welcome change in attitude.
My car has the bog too. I think I'm going to try to get it tuned out rather than waiting for the update they mentioned.
I got this 08 A6 after last 3 cars, 2 Vettes and a T/A with the M6. I thought it would still be fun to drive with the paddles and be easier to launch. So far I'd say the manuals were a lot more fun to drive, but if and when I get theis trans acting properly I'm hoping to change my mind. I'm also thinking gears...

Getting the A6 tune that includes the trans, changes the car like you won't believe. It made mine very responsive and shifts great like it should have from the factory. I can burn rubber in first and when shifting to second where before I could not. Love the car now, lots of fun to drive!
Thanks for your input. The dealership said they will replace the car, provided GM helps them. Remember the car has only 700 miles and i was in there when it backfired on the way home from the dearlership with on 4 miles on the car. The tune would likely correct the prob., but i was told it would void the warrenty. I think i will go with the manual. I owned an 03 manual, traded it for a nissan 350z (stop laughing!) and knew after one day i had to get back in a vette. Btw this A6 at 50 mph will burn rubber WTO. It's incredable, its just that bog while in motion that isnt typical of any of the c4-6 that i have owned. I will keep u up on the progress. There is one 08 A6 manual in a dealership close by, also the same color so i may try to swap.

The tune on the A6 will really help. I agree with Mike, my C6 has alot more life than stock.
i had a similar problem with the car bogging, slow paddle reaction, and i was ready to get rid of it, it was BADDDDDD AFTER the tune it was totally different, accelleration and shifting was NOW, and broke the tires loose real easy, first, second and third, until i changed to Toyo's and 20" 305's rears
the car became a blast to drive
It's hard to belive but the dealership got a replacement for my 08 A6 that had bogging problem and porous block oil leak. They got me a fully loaded manual...its beautiful! I saw my old 08 in the shop with the engine out, tranie and exhaust all laying to the side...what a sad site
Today i test drove the replacement car and the old car has the replacement engine in. So, i have to wait two weeks to get some paperwork from GM so the dealer can get paid. In the meantime they are returning to me my old vette. This is incredible. I got to tell you that i give credit to the Lord for this solution!
No problems with my 06 A6, but then again I re-did the entire intake. With the mods I have made I have instant throttle response and the car is a beast at dead stop.

WOW that is good news! Although, I'd love to hear someone explain what in the world a "porous" engine is? That is the craziest thing I've ever heard. People say great things about a tuned paddle shift car but I just love my manual too much to give it up!
They tell me its a type of fracture in the block or some type of defect that allows oil to seep through!!!
Today they gave me back the A6, which i keep until GM releases the check to the dealership. I test drove the 08 Manual today and it felt great. I get to do the swap in aboyt 2 weeks, but GM assesses $$$ to the miles that u use on the repurchase vehicle.
I will want to know what you think about the automatic versus the manual. I enjoy my manual, but I have not driven the C-6 automatic. So you get to light your hair on fire with the automatic until you get the manual. Nicely done.

I think that's very fair. I've heard of this before: when they take back your car, they essentially charge you for mileage already accumulated on your old car. Reasonable, in my opinion.

At slightly over 1700 miles the trans in my '08 A6 began to take a long time to shift from reverse to drive, sometimes as long as 6 seconds. Then it began to slip and was very sluggish when driving away from a dead stop. I barely got it to the dealer . They everntually replaced the transmission control module, BTW there is a bulletin out from GM on just this problem. The car didn't seem the same to me after I got it back, so I took it back and they checked it over and said it is fine, no codes. But the car now seems to hesitate more, as if it is trying to decide what gear it wants to be in. It is especailly noticable after slowing down to, say go over a speed bump, then accelerate back up to speed, even my wife commented on it last week. I am not talking punching, it, just normal driving. As I read the above posts, it seem clear that a tune will cure many, if not all, of the "problems" with the A6. I may wait for this now software from GM before I invest in a tune, I am naturally gun shy about losing my warranty after already having to use it.
