It is definitely an amazing car, I had no idea we had almost 11:1 compression, no wonder they run like crap on regular gas..

That's the beauty of it though, with the advancements in modern electronics and fuel management even with that high of a compression ratio one CAN still run 87 octane fuel in these cars under certain conditions (cooler weather/driving it easy/non racing situations) if they so choose but I personally would never do that.
On a semi related note, the LS3's compression ratio is rated slightly lower at 10.7 and oddly enough the almost identical L92 in the Cadillac Escalade is somehow rated at only 10.5.
