Can anyone speak to the road noise rumors I've been hearing about these tires? I have read many threads regarding new tire choices and am still at a loss.
I've had two sets on my last two vettes ('06 & '08) and found them a heck of a lot quieter than the RF's. The performance difference would be worth it even if they were louder, but they are not.
I'm w/ the other guys, I don't think they're particularly noisey. You notice differences on different pavements but still quieter than, smoother, better traction, hell in every way except being non-runflat than the original GYSCRFs. I am very impressed & satisfied with these tires & both recommend & would purchase again.
I've heard some conflicting things about KDW2's... people here say they're not too noisy, but I have a couple buddies with S4's that will attest that they're noisy as hell. One GAVE his set away because he couldn't stand how noisy they were.

FWIW, I replaced the OEM RF's with these and they are not noisy.

No no and no..Please stop it with all this road noise myth and kdw2's. Road noise comes from the surface you drive on. I have them for 2 years now...what road noise? Plus I have headers, full exhaust, cam, 4.10 gears, vortex ram air, fast 90 intake..ok I am worried about earth shattering road noise with KDW2's..
They are awesome up to 450rwhp for the street..After that you need slicks or drag radials for optimum traction.
I've had them for a couple months now and they are great. I don't know what everyone's complaint is about noise because I have none. They hook up so much better than run craps that I would run them even if they were noisy.
10,000 miles on mine and they produce less noise than the original supercars. Noise is mostly dependent on type of road surface. Old concrete is the worst.
Not to hijack, but how is the car doing, Phil? Hope you're doing very well and having fun!
If you are saying the KDWs are hooking with all that new power, the mild mod guys should not hesitate....getting traction will feel like more TQ for sure.
Hard to tell noise when you have a GMMG exhaust. I run these on my Camaro.
One isssue I have had is the beads not sealing properly. Your tires will seem fine and then you'll go out and find a flat. You'll take the tire to a tireshop and they will tell you nothing is wrong with the tire. I had this happen 3 times on 3 different tires. I then researched it and found many people have the same issue. Now I just pump the tire back up and go on my way. Google "KDW2 sealing issues"
I had a BIG problem with beading issues. I had new rims and they couldnt get the tires to seal, 2 of them anyway. I had bead sealer on the and it was insane. I would come to the garage and two would be dead flat. I bought a pump for that reason. They were loud on my car. I know others say not but tire noise drives me insane and these tires were loud. I have had lots of cars, tires and these TO ME were loud. Initially they were fine but with a few miles on them they got loud. They finally got so loud, I gave them away and went to another tire. I see lots of guys that have no problems but it may come down to mods, hearing, and what roads you drive on. Personally, I wouldnt buy them again. The beading issue absolutely drove me insane. The first time, they said there must be some rust in the wheel causing it. Wrong. Spanking brand new oem rims. You could lick the inside and not taste anything. The second time they bead sealed it with the glue stuff, it was on the edge of the rim, took some time to clean. I thought that would be it but after some driving, I guess the bead slipped a bit and I would come out with two flat tires. The noise was present to me. FTR, I am in my 30's and noise usually doesnt bother me. Maybe I got a bad set as the noise levels seem acceptable on tirerack.com from the reviews. They did look great and handled really well .
I was one of the guys who was complaining about the noise. At first, I was going to sell them and go with something else. Now, I don't think they're any noisier than the Goodyear's they replaced. In addition, the ride and handling is light years better than the Goodyear's. I think my problem was that I put them on the car in November and didn't get to drive it much. I think it was more an issue of the cold convertible top amplifying all of the externals sounds. This included wind, other cars, road noise, etc., Now that the weather has warmed up, I don't think they're noisy at all. I'm glad I didn't sell them. They look great, ride great and handle great as well. I have 275/35-18's and 295/35-19's on CCW SP500's
