Default heads/cam choice?

I'm about to mod my 05 M6 C6 and need some help choosing a heads/cam combo, don't want nothing big and want a street/race compromise cam as I'll track it a few times a year otherwise it's a daily driver summer car, other mods are Corsa exhaust, LG lt headers, cia, suspension, Textralia clutch, DTE brace and 4:10 gears. Leaning towards the trickflow heads, I'm going to add the Yella Terra roller rockers so what cam and how much lift and duration is suitable for this application?

similar mods, i went with the L92/L76 and the comp cam XER273 i think its 224/228, .59x, 114 lsa. it makes >450 rwhp, idles and drives great. it was also the most cost effective by a few hundred dollars. i track a few times a year, was in the high 11's @ 124 with the stock clutch slipping in 3rd and 4th. the textralia is on the way now.

Before I put a forged 427 im my 05 C6, my LS2 made 461rwhp/435rwtq using 215 ET heads/ 224/228/581/588/114 comp cam with the rest of the bolts ons. That motor is now in my son's 2002 C5, It went in with 50,000 on the clock and is still going strong 15,000 miles later. Point is the combo lives. It was a daily driver got 30mpg on the highway. i know everbody talks L92/L76, actually I have those on my stroked LS3. I just don't think they work as well on a 4.00 inch bore. They were designed to work on a 4.065 bore where you can take advantage of the larger intake valve. It's shrouded in a 4 inch bore. my opinion anyway.
Good luck

I'm wondering if a 114 cam is too much thinking something like 224 228 112 but I only know what I've read here and I really don't know much about cams so is this not too mild? I don't want a lumpy cam, I've heard of that G5X3 and Patriot heads, sounds good but I'd prefer new parts. I was considering the FAST intake but will probably settle for porting the stock intake and TB, I'm still not sure what size cam to get so please keep the suggestions coming. My goal isn't max hp but if I could run into high 11's I'd be happy, I just purchased new Iforged rims and 295/30/19 Pirelli P/Zero's on the rear but traction is the issue and I like Spin's suggestion of running 18's on the rear with DR's so I'm looking around to see what others are running on the rears.

Hi kaislick,

Just curious, did you had to fly cut with that particular cam and are the heads ported? I am going with the same set up but indecisive about cam choice. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip, I called Andy, he thinks I should go with a 228 232 114 but said it would be a little choppy, that or a smoother 224 228 that will have around 20hp less, he also recommended a blower system for not too much more.

Known Andy a long time. He knows so much about blown LS motors.
