Never used them before. Just a few questions. Here is what I have. 07 C6 with Callaway Honker, G5X3 cam, LG Z06 exhaust from headers back to Bullets, and BFG drag radials on 18" wheels.
What tire pressure?
What RPM's to launch at?
And anything else I need to know.
about 25 or 24 psi and if its an auto try around 1000 rpm or so with a stock stall thats when i get the best 60's
this got me a best of 1.83 on stock runflats and consistent 1.8xs
DON'T dump your clutch and if you wheel hop get out of it. Don't try to ride it out. I've watched those two items break rears several times at my track.
I borrowed a friend's set of DR's and ran them the last time out at Englishtown. FYI I ran them at 18 lbs. I ran 5 runs. Out of those I turned my 3 best ever 60 foot times at 1.912,1,914 & 1.917. I also turned my best ever ET at 12.43 @ 114.6 mph and my 3rd,4th & 7th best times. However, sprinkled in between all these were runs on my stock street run flats. The advantage was'nt as great as I expected. But, if you can get a decent burnout and the car hooks, you will improve.

Once you get used to launching (if a manual) they make a huge difference - I launch at 5200, ride the clutch to keep it above 4500 during launch netting me 1.6's. My buddy can get 1.4's using that techinque. Dr. Ron used to use a 6k launch to get 1.5's! I can't get my car to stick above 5200, I spin a little and get a 1.9. 5000-5200 is a sweet spot on my car.
No way no how you could get a runflat to stick for that kind of launch.
If you launch at 1500 or with a stock converter on a auto, there isn't as dramatic a difference - 2.1 runflat to 1.9 drag radial. It's when you get a converter or go upstairs on the revs that they make a difference.

I have not been the recepient of a 1.4x 60' time. My best in my C5Z, using the launch technique you mentioned netted me a best of 1.58 w/ a few bolt ons & on ET Street slicks (not DR's by the way). That was launching at like 6200 or more & slipping (riding) the RPS clutch I had in there. On the stock clutch of my C5Z my best 60' time was a 1.62 on DR's.
In my C6Z my best 60' time is 1.62 on DR's. The stock clutch is the limiting factor in this car where I can't launch higher then 4000 or the clutch falls to the floor towards the launch from overheating (glazing).
This also is preventing my car from running at least 10.5x's in good air due to the soft launch, where a large bog is unavoidable.
To the original poster, I run my DR's at 17-18 psi. I'd start at 19-20 & launch at like 300 rpm's & see what happens. You can launch softer or harder & raise or lower your psi as the track prep allows. Try not to only vary 1 thing at a time though so you know what is working! I'm not familiar with the clutch in your car. Mine cannot be slipped at ALL!
Don't be surprised if you run slower all around to start, as there IS a learning curve/feel curve to overcome. At least I did!

I've got a 6-speed and still learning to drive with them. My best 60-ft has been 1.80 and that was with 14 psi. I was only launching at 4000rpm as well. Higher pressure resulted in wheelspin for me.
I would start the bfg 18" drag radials around 18 psi and do a good burnout. Make them work for you.
I will now defer the rest of the launch to the c6 captains!

I'm glad I could help in any way!
Dr. Ron and I often collaborate on launch technique for our cars; much better than discussing dentistry.
