Anyone else had problems with their cruise control? I've had my car for a few weeks and only have about 600 miles on it, and it was working up until a few days ago. Now, when I press the button, it doesn't do anything. I do have the switch in the proper place.
Also, it's an A6, so does it make a difference if it's in "D" or "S" (sport mode)?
uggg. Ok, just wanted to make sure it wasn't something simple before I took it to the dealer. Didn't want them taking anything apart unless it was necessary. Thanks!

Just did. Looks like the fuse to the Cruise Control is under the passenger side carpet, up under the dash. The fuse in the location stated in the owners manual is a gray one with a "2" on it. I pulled it out and it doesn't look like it's burned out or anything. The wire inside it looks fine.
However, I did notice there wasn't a single spare fuse in the spare fuses area of that box! Kinda scary if they were there and the dealer has used them all. I think the spares were still in the engine bay fuse box. I know they jumped the car a few times, since it went dead on them a few times while sitting on the lot...I'll have to ask them if they've replaced any fuses.
I had the same issue until I realized that the e-brake was on by one click. Make sure your e-brake handle is all the way down.
Thanks for the reply...but wasn't that. I went ahead and took it out for a spin to make sure it wasn't the e-brake and to make sure reseating the fuse didn't help...and it still isn't working. I made an appointment at the dealer to get it checked out. Maybe it's the BCM like TR-6060 mentioned. I'll find out Tuesday.
The cruise control just quit last year on my '07. After doing a search on this forum, I saw a recommendation to try disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. I did that and bingo, it solved the problem. My cruise control started working again and has not failed again. It saved a trip to the dealer for me. You might want to give it a try.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I have to take it to the dealer anyway, to have them check out my front right brake (leaving a stripe on the rotor where it isn't rubbing off the surface rust)...but I don't want them messing with more than they absolutely have to
I forgot to mention that if you do disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, you will have to reset your windows so that they open slightly before closing the doors. That procedure is in the manual somewhere and is very easy. Good luck.

Thanks. I had to do that a few weeks ago when I first got it, because the driver side wasn't indexing back up...so that's no problem.

Mine just quit on a long road trip. Worked fine on the trip up to Niagara and then noticed it wasn't working on the trip back. Checked the fuse and swapped it with the other 2A fuse. No joy.
Pull the negative battery cable and reinstalled and it's working just fine now. Saved me a trip to the dealer.
Just for reference, I broke my brake pedal position indicator last weekend, and it killed active handling, and cruise control. New part is now in, and all is well.

Glad that solved the problem. Isn't this forum great!!

UPDATE:
Once I changed my broken brake pedal position indicator, my cruise was ok. I know not related to the OP's issue, but may help someone else.
One time my cruise wasn't working either - I took out my clutch assist spring to keep it from sticking down on the drag strip, and my clutch didn't return all the way up. The assist spring is a double action overcenter spring that helps the pedal stay up and stay down. My clutch pedal wasn't all the way up this time. I lifted the clutch pedal with my toe and cruise worked again. Only happened once to me but I do check now and again to make sure clutch is all the way up (which it usually is).
