I have done some searches... but, I have found a wide variety of answers...
I am going to be getting some Nitto Invios... after reading a bunch of threads I decided to get these over the KDW2s.
My Question: What size tires are the appropriate choice? I do not know if I should go a little bigger than stock or what? In both the front and rear? Some pointers would be appreciated.
What sizes are ya'll running on your stock OEM rims? Thanks!
Are you sure? I have KDW2s & recommend 255/40-18 & 295/35-19s. They are taller, slightly, & my car is lowered which really closes the fender gap which looks awesome & I get comments on the wheel (Z06 replicas), tire, stance all the time. It's lowered all the way up front on stock bolts & same out back w/ 1/2 the bushing cut. It's a very clean look along w/ very smooth sidewalls.
Now, the tires themselves are great! I have 450rwhp & they hook better than the GYSCRF did w/ stock power. You'll hear a lot of feedback re: noise, I simply disagree. I have a vert & the car is kinda loud, but I just don't notice any extra noise. As far as all around performance ride, traction, cornering they are far superior to OEM for Z51 tires. I'm under the impression the Invos are more of a touring/sport more rec'd for BMW, but they're are plenty singing their praises. Finally, $1050 door to door from tire rack add $100 for mount, bal., & install.

Well, I have been hearing lots of good things about Invo's, no bad. And... I have been hearing mixed reactions from the KDW2s. I have see some have irregular wearing and things of that nature and also noise, etc. I just don't want to take any chances... and I have the z51 as well, so I just want to make sure I get the right choice. I only go to the track maybe once a year. (Only been in the vette once).

If you go that route, be carefull choosing the 305s for the rears. What you to keep an eye on is tire diameters stock GYSCRFs are 25.7 & 26.9 = 1.2 f/r diff & you don't want to stray to far from that. The 305s i looked at were 26.25 which can possibly effect TC/AH/Speedo, but unlikely. The gap in the fender wells grow & look funny unless you lower the car. Dp some searches & see if you can come up w/ some pics b/f you decide. Good luck!
I think the 19,20 size really fills up the wheel-well gap nicely, giving for a better stance. However I did lower 1'' rear, 1/2" front as well. The lowering was easily done w/ Phadt coilovers.
I too have KDW2's all the way around on the stock chrome rims. I have a black 2006 Z51 6-speed and they look and handle great even in the snow. There is something about them on a black vette that just makes them stand out above the stock Supercar ones. I think it is the black recessed lines in that tread pattern. They look like flames. One other thing, they are a low noise tire. I have about 12,000 miles on them now and they still look and sound like new.

What sizes did you do on the stock chrome rims??? You have the exact same car as mine... Mine is also a black 06 z51.
For KDW2s your options are 245/40 -18 or 255/40-18s up front & 285/35 -19 or 295/55 -19s out back. Go to TireRack.com hit product tab - tires, brand - tab, whatever you want to look at, look at specs it gives you everything you need to know. Again, remember stock tires GYSCRFs are 25.7 & 26.9 in diameter & you'll want to stay close. Largest width up front recommended on stock 8.5 & 10 rims is 255 & 295 out back. Plenty of people have gone bigger as much as 275 up front, not recommended & from a performance standpoint flat out doesn't make sense & 305 is the largest you want to go outback.
It may be worth asking, what are you goals, what kind of weather do drive in, etc. Just because they're wider doesn't necessarily translate to better traction/performance. I have researched this extentensively, so this biggest question is to answer the above & you will get better answers than what will fit.

Thanks for the info!
Let me try to answer your question(s). My goals: I had light mods as of now, I plan on doing headers/xpipe in august and next year hopefully cam only. I won't go anything more than about 450rwhp. I want something that is going to hook up at digs and off the line and something that is going to be a lot more reliable in weather. I drive in sun and rain. I live in Texas, summers are hot... but the last few years, we have been getting a lot more rain.
I am pretty set on the Invo's or KDW2s. I am open to either. Just wanted to know the sizes. Thanks for your input! Is there any advantage to going bigger? I would stay at the stock for the fronts, and maybe a tiny bigger in the rears. Is there any advantage/disadvantage for doing this? Thanks!
I have 255/40/18 and 295/35/19 KDW2s on stock rims. Neither the KDW2 or the Invo is a top tier tire so I would go with whatever one you can get the best deal on in the size you want.
I have 275/35-18 front and 305/30-19 Michelin PS2 tires on stock wheels and the traction is much better than the OEM Goodyears. These are the tires that are on the new 2009 ZR1 Corvettes. The most amazing thing is the smooth quiet ride. The PS2's make a Z51 ride like a base car.
I am having a stock set of wheels widened and planning on trying the new 325 wide PS2 when it comes out.
