I have an 08 A6 vette. I am not going to lie, I do prefer the auto over the manual for many different reasons. One being a forklift injury from years back that really makes even the lightest clutches feel heavy and annoying.
Now my question is, I know right now there are not any real upgrades for the A6. Speaking to RPM they are waiting on HP Tuners and their software programs to be able to make stronger version of the tranny. I assume that will eventually happen and we will have the upgrades people want to make big power. However, it got me thinking. Just out of curiosity, I know some people spend lots of money on their set ups. Some upwards of 30k and more. I would assume if you have money pretty much anything is possible. I was wondering, if you guys thought it would be possible to actually have a real F1 gearbox installed and customized in a C6. Like the Ferrari F1 shifters or even the Porsche triptronic models. I am sure EVENTUALLY Chevy will switch to these autos (probably sometime in the C7 generation) I really like my car and I plan on keeping it. I just want to know I will have options down the road to do the upgrades I want to !! Thanks for your time
I don't know about modifying the existing trans, but CF vendor Lou Gigliotti down near Dallas wrote a little about his new race car that has that kind of trans. I believe it is quite expensive.
But there are things you can do now to make your A6 much better. Any tuner worth his salt will be able to tweak the tranny modules to address some of the torque management and lazy shifting GM delivers, but they will probably need to put their hands on the car, as the tranny cannot be fully addressed via mail-order.
