I would like to change the heads and cam on my 2007 C6 manual and since i like to do it right the first time i would like to know what you guys recommend for heads and a cam? I will be driving this car daily but i also like the sound of a nice cam. Any recommendations?
This car will stay N/A
You really can't go wrong with AFR or TFS for the heads. The cam profile depends on how radical you want to go. I have the 215cc TFS heads on a C5 with a cam profile of 236/238 .601/.605 113 LSA. I drive it daily with no complaints. This setup with all the supporting bolt ons made 466/422. Jeremy Formatto is an excellent tuner in your area.
A very popular combination is the new L92 Chevy heads and a Comp Cam. The L92 heads are a bargain ($189 each for a new bare head) and they out flow most of the aftermarket heads. You will have to change the intake to the L76 style intake as the L92 intake ports are rectangular vs cathedral style on the LS2 head. The L92 heads also use offset intake rockers so you will need 8 new intake rockers.
If you are doing the work yourself, this is an inexpensive upgrade with huge potential.
The L92 heads definately flow well, but comparing them out of the box to a good set of cathedral heads isn't really that great of a comparison. From the testing I've done the L92 combos work really well with some extra milling & a little bit of cnc work. We've built l92 headed ls2 cars with very small camshafts that make some unbelieveable power! The good news is a fully cnc ported L92 head combo is very reasonably priced!!
GM High-Tech did two very good articles on the L92 cylinder head. The first article discusses the design evolution of the head with pictures comparing it to the LS2 and LS7 heads. It does a very nice job of explaining the reason for offset intake rockers as well as the raised intake ports requiring the L76 intake.
The second article installs and dyno tests the L92 heads and L76 intake on an LS2. Results: 546.8hp with L92 heads, L76 intake, and an aftermarket cam.
The third link is to Scoggin Dickey's parts listing for the heads. They are currently $189.95 each, bare.
